about

This is a Connors Brothers original. It looks at the history of those who share our last name and explains some of the feelings of connection that we feel with Ireland. When we perform it often the audience sways with us to create the feeling of travelling a long distance on a boat. If you sway at home while you listen to this song, please be careful not to get sea sick!

lyrics

The Ghosts of Ireland

I looked in the mirror and saw my past
A family tree that forever will last
The Hart of old Sligo, the Connors of Ire
Music and love and hearts filled with fire

The Ghosts of Ireland call me,
The names and the stories of my family

The last of the kings, a Connors was he
Made to submit to the Crown's tyranny
Proudly he passed his name on down
It's said that now Dennis O'Connor should be crowned

The Ghosts of Ireland call me,
The names and the stories of my family

When Peter O'Connor of Thurles won gold
The flag of his country he proudly unfurled
Replacing the Union Jack on the pole
Showing his country his strength and his soul

The Ghosts of Ireland call me,
The names and the stories of my family
